A truly promising sign for New Street Adventure is the fact that they have been adopted by fans from both inside and outside the Soul scene. Although Corbin's primary focus is to change the perspective of Soul to his peers, it is also of the utmost importance that the genre's longstanding tastemakers support the band, too. This has certainly been the case with legendary Northern Soul DJ Ady Croasdell inviting them to play the first ever live band set at his 31 year old all-nighter at the 100 Club last April, 2011.
By complete coincidence, both Dean Chalkley, recipient of NME’s Outstanding Achievement For Music Photography and film maker of “Young Souls” and Elaine Constantine, director of forthcoming film, “Northern Soul, The Film" were also in attendance that night and were both blown away by New Street Adventure’s performance. This lead to Dean inviting the band to perform at his recent photographic exhibition launch, “Look Hear”, as well as shooting them for inclusion in Simon Witter’s documentary series, Bohemian Rhapsody to be broadcast on ARTE, (the European Arts and Culture Channel) in the run up to the Olympics. The series takes a skewed look at British pop/rock as well as celebrating its relationship with other artistic disciplines. Dean Chalkley and New Street Adventure will be featured in the opening episode about the relationship between music and photography.
Elaine Constantine subsequently invited the band to participate in Northern Soul, The Film
which is due for release in 2013. |
